Why the free mountain beats the ₩27,000 window
The photography callHwangnyeongsan is the mid-city mountain whose summit road ends at a lookout over essentially everything: Gwangan Bridge mid-frame, Haeundae's towers east, the port west, and the whole basin of lights in between. It's open air — no glass, no reflections, no closing time — and it costs nothing. This is where Busan's own night-photo canon is shot.
X the Sky gives you altitude, climate control and a cocktail, and as an experience it's perfectly pleasant. As a photo platform it fights you: reviewers keep reporting smudged and dirty glass, and interior lights reflect in every night exposure. If the picture is the point, spend ₩0 on the mountain and put the ₩27,000 toward dinner. If a warm seat above Haeundae with a drink is the point, X the Sky is fine — just book online first (table above).
The descent trap: Hwangnyeongsan is effectively taxi-only — about 30 minutes and ₩16,000 (~$11) from the Nampo side — and no taxis wait at the top. Going up is easy; getting down at 22:30 is the part people fail to plan. Kakao T needs Korean-phone verification most visitors don't have, so either keep your taxi waiting (meter running — cheaper than being stranded), pre-negotiate a return pickup, or go with a plan for the ride home.

LogisticsEvery location on this site carries its metro line, station and exit — Busan's metro is cheap, frequent and bilingual, and the city is too spread out for 'just take a taxi' to survive contact with Friday traffic on the Gwangan Bridge. Is the Oryukdo Skywalk worth visiting?
Not as a destination — the glass section is 15 m long and over in two minutes. As the finish line of the free 2-hour Igidae coastal walk, with the islets offshore, it lands completely differently. Come on foot, not by bus, and it's a fine ending.
Where's the best sunset in Busan?
West-facing wins: Dadaepo Beach for the big flat horizon, Songdo's cable car side for sunset over the harbour, and Dalmaji Hill for the softer after-glow above Haeundae (moonrise is its actual specialty — the name means moon-greeting). All three cost ₩0 to stand at.
How do I get to Hwangnyeongsan at night?
Taxi — about 30 minutes and ₩16,000 (~$11) from the Nampo side, less from Gwangalli or Seomyeon. The road summits near the lookout so it's barely a walk. The trap is the return: keep the taxi waiting or fix a pickup time, because hailing from the summit at 22:00 fails and Kakao T needs a Korean phone number.
What time do Busan's viewpoints close?
Later than most cities': Busan X the Sky runs 10:00–21:00, Busan Tower 10:00–22:00, the free Songdo Skywalk 06:00–23:00, and Hwangnyeongsan never closes at all. The outlier is the Oryukdo Skywalk at 09:00–18:00 — the only one on this page that's useless for night views.
Is the Songdo Skywalk worth it?
As a free 365 m walk over open water, easily — that's about 24 times the length of Oryukdo's 15 m glass patch, at the same price of ₩0. It's open 06:00–23:00 and sits right beside the cable car station, so fold it into the Songdo half-day rather than making it a special trip.
